The Overview: This video site was developed by Spark Media in conjunction with Stitch Media (video producer) and Bell Canada. It takes the viewer through the workout methods used by Sidney and his Trainer as they prepare for the upcoming season. This website / flash application was featured on MSN's homepage and the front page of Nova Scotia's Chronicle Herald newspaper and received up to 120,000 unique hits per day.

The Overview: This site is designed to target the two main groups WCB speaks to, Workers and Employers. Designed in XHTML and scattered with dynamic Flash components, this site outlines responsibilities and "take action" protocols for both employer and employee.

 

 

Super Spellers Website and Flash Application

The Overview: Spark Developed an online spelling application and website that tested the spelling skills o f potential contestants for the TV show to air this fall 2009 for season 1. Spark also oversaw the development and testing of the national / 10 region website from functional specifications to final pre-launch beta testing.

 Client: Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and Extreme Group 

The Overview: Flash video integration was used to engage and captivate the targeted youth audience. The host of the website greets visitors and comments on their activities as they peruse the main foyer. The dressing rooms showcase real stories of youth and work place injury.

In 2008, Spark Media also developed an online multimedia and video contest that allowed contestants to submit a safety video, story, or picture - of which the top three submissions of each month were awarded prizes.

Awards: Applied Arts 2006 Interactive winner and showcased in their magazine, Canees Cyber Lyons shortlist 2006, 2007 ICE Awards - Craft award, Internaltional Association of Business Communicators Silver Leaf Award.

University of Toronto: Center for Effective Practice Wiki

 

Client: University of Toronto- Centre for Effective Practice

The Overview: a living medical encyclopedia to help you research, diagnose and treat patients, and provide the highest level of care possible. Unlike a conventional text book, you can instantly search for information and collaborate with other colleagues. This system lets you create new articles or modify an existing article.

Spark Media modified the open source Media Wiki engine to bring a textbook's worth of information users, who can search, add media, citations, new entries and much more. Launched in March, 2007.

SMU Tube: Saint Mary's University

The Overview: Spark Media was approached to build a video player for SMU tube that combined Google Earth with YouTube Video Player to provide and overlay of the campus with detailed videos of each site- see what the outcome was!

Acadia University: Campus Tour

 

Client: Acadia University and Extreme Group

The Overview: Spark Media developed and award winning mini-site (Adobe Site of the Day Jan 11, 2006) that gives an overview of life on campus at Acadia University.

Awards: Adobe Site of the Day Jan 11, 2006, and 2006 Webby Award Honoree.

 

Janet Kimber Photography Website

The Overview: Janet Kimber wanted a minimalist design website that allowed her to update her content at whim. She also wanted to deter viewers from being able to download her photography.  

Spark Media developed a simple XML based content management system(CMS) that allowed Janet to update her content, achieve the google search engine ranking that she wanted, and still have the slick visual appeal and transitions possible in a flash based website.

The Overview: Working closely with MacMillan Lynch Media, Spark Media developed an XML driven content management system that enabled the client to have the slick visual appeal and sophisticated navigation system possible in a flash website, but also to update their own content regularily.

The Overview: Spark Media's Allan Kennedy has developed numerous flash based online games over the years. These games include Camp Runamuck , which is a three level game for online and CD-ROM distribution (Allan also composed the game loop music for this and edited sound fx). Mount runamuck, in which Allan composed the music and edited/created sound fx as part of the Zincroe Design team and Trevor Van Meter, Illustrator. The Great Candy Caper, was programmed by Allan for Family Channels Halloween promotions. Cupidtron, which was part of Family Channels Valentines day promotions. WCB's “Search for the Hazard,” game in 2003. Allan also composed music and created sound fx for Skeleton Park and Teletoon's "That Game Show."
